Point Mallard uses early goal to top Nashville, 2-1

Justin Dunn gave the Point Mallard Ducks the lead in the first period, and the Nashville Jr. Predators was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-1.

A goal 7:22 into the first period by Dunn proved to be the game winner, and powered Point Mallard to the victory. Justin Provencher assisted on the tally.

With the win, the Ducks avoided elimination to make the series score 1-1 in the best of three series.

Dunn had a great game for Point Mallard, netting two goals.

Nashville was stymied by the Ducks\’ netminder Cooper Seedott, who stopped 33 shots during the victory. Seedott managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.86 prior to the game.

Point Mallard\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Nashville power plays.

Other players who recorded assists for Point Mallard were Brad Reitter and Killian Gray, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Predators\’ offense rang up 34 shots on the Ducks\’ net.

Nashville was led by Jacob Lainesse, who scored the team\’s only goal. Lainesse scored 15:30 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Point Mallard. Trent Kulczyk picked up the assist.

Point Mallard incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Jr. Predators\’ Nathan Klebe stopped 15 shots out of the 17 that he faced. Nashville incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
